Ambient Awakening – A Listening Gathering with Rainald Goetz (Live)

Pop literature meets listening culture. Viennese cultural association Tropical Thunder invites you to Ambient Awakening at Funkhaus Wien on Sunday, April 19th, 2026, from 10:00 to 21:00 – an all-day listening gathering in sitting and lying position.
In a relaxed atmosphere on carpets and sofas, the format combines ambient, dub and breakbeats with literature. Pioneer of German pop literature Rainald Goetz reads selected texts sporadically – not as a classical reading, but as an atmospheric intervention embedded within the music.
Over eleven hours, a collective space of listening, relaxing and being together unfolds – a kind of daytime club culture or "soft clubbing", drawing on the ambient floors of the 1990s and the Balearic beats era.
