DESCRIPTION:<a href="https://www.funkhaus.wien/event/victor-ruiz-colomer-in
ternational-residency-309">Victor Ruiz Colomer – International Residency
</a>\nNeverAtHome welcomes Victor Ruiz Colomer for a short-term residency
in July 2026. In Victor Ruiz Colomer’s recent practice\, illumination is
a means to work with the material conditions that sustain a ‘projection
’ — alluding both to the psychological state in which feelings are dis
placed beyond one’s body and to the electrical resources needed to flatt
en a moving image onto a specific surface\, even within a specific timefra
me. During his residency at NeverAtHome\, Ruiz Colomer will further develo
p a series of lighting dynamics stemming from recent work previously prese
nted at CC Can Felipa (Barcelona)\, Cibrián (Donostia–San Sebastián)\,
and ongoing lighting work for Aplauso\, Vicio\, a performance in collabor
ation with Élise Moreau and noela covelo velasco. In parallel\, he will w
ork on textual scripts in retrospective relation to the exhibitions in Bar
celona and Donostia. These works will be placed in dialogue with research
developed alongside Carmen Lael Hines on the Friedensreich Hundertwasser-d
esigned Spittelau Waste Incineration Plant in Vienna. As a municipally man
aged energy and waste infrastructure\, Spittelau offers a compelling case
 study in which architecture\, thermodynamics\, energy distribution\, and e
nvironmental engineering converge\, becoming symbols for the public imagin
ation. The project considers how systems of energy circulation simultaneou
sly operate as systems of visual representation and cultural mediation.
